A buddy of mine bought an IH 444 this spring. He gave $4500 with a loader on it but no power steering. It didn't have much engine oil pressure but he used it up until last week. We took the pan off and pulled out the rod bearings all looked good. Then we pulled the oil pump out and saw that the bottom plate on the pump was warped and parts of the gasket were missing. The pressure relief valve spring must of pushed the plate down over the years and created a gap between the plate and pump housing. A new plate is $128. Got one on order. The plate that was on there looks like pot metal or aluminum and the rest of the pump cast steel. We did also replace the rod and main bearings while we were in there. Waiting on the pump plate now. Those are nice little tractors.
