I have a JD 2940, 82hp diesel. I love this tractor-never a problem. I ran the brush hog about 2 hours the other day. As I was returning to the barn Hydraulic fluid began to shoot out of the right front side of the tractor. I traced the leak to a fitting that comes off the right side of the hydraulic pump. The JD parts guys said there is a rubber O ring in there that blows out. There is a steel tube about ¾ inch that runs from this fitting to the back of the tractor. The fluid was leaking under pressure from the bottom of this fitting. I backed off the nut that is flared into the tube. I cannot get the male fitting out of the case of the hydraulic pump. to check it or to replace the O ring. The steel tube has no play and the tolerances are so close that I can’t even pry it towards the fitting enough to put it back together like it was before the leak.
1-it there a web sight that I can access to get a diagram of the hydraulic pump and these fittings.---I saw the one at the JD place but would like to have it here at the farm for reference. 2-I obviously don’t know the tricks to making what seems to be a simple repair-replacing a $2 O ring.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I plan to sell the tractor when the farm sells and I need to get it running.
