Maybe they're not in Texas but they have a strong presence in the west. I've driven from IL to CA saw Sinclair stations in every state on those trips. I notice stuff like that because I collect (among other things)Sinclair signs and gas pump globes.
Esso was forced to use the Enco name in some markets because the Esso name infringed on other Standard companies territories. The other Standards successfully used the argument that ESSO was the phonetic spelling of the letters S and O which they held the marketing rights to S O in their territories because the letters S O stood for Standard Oil.
