Here in the USA it is the government that fixes the farm price. Here they do it by predicting bumper crops for corn and soybean even though the actual harvest will most likely be much lower. Last year the great drought caused a big shortage of many crops and much higher prices. This year the govt. and the big dogs on the CBT are using false data and predictions to push the crop prices below production costs.
The only weapon that crop producers have is to hold their grain crops until a fair price is reached.
Here in northen NY state the corn and soybean crops are looking to be fair to good but it is a long time from now until it gets to the grain elavator. Some of my corn is 12 to 14 feet tall with large ears, high on the stalk. I feel it would not take much of a stiff breeze to cause it to topple and be out of the reach of the combine. In other places the wet spring delayed planting or prevented any planting. Here on this site many have been complaining about too much rain or no rain at all and yet the all knowing keep telling us how hugh our harvest will be.
