Today was useless as far as putting bread on our table was
concerned.....Yesterday (Sunday) evening I got a call from my
neighbour.......Long story!
Our preacher left our church to go live with another church
and in the interim period the church members use the time to do
improvements to the preacher's house. The House had been fully
modernised about 6 years ago so it needed nothing but the last
preacher was (fat and) lazy when it came to taking care of the
grounds around 'his' home....always used the excuse he was
leaving some for the wildlife!. So the members decided to tidy up
his lawns...They pulled some trees and the front hedge and
erected a nice wooden fence. One member then rotavated the
rough area. This was lying in a kind of a mess all worked down
fine but uneven....So, in church yesterday morning it was
announced that we needed volunteers to rake it all level. I was
summoned yesterday evening to grade and level the area in
preparation for the raking team this evening. Had to delay all my
plans for today, as we have thunderstorms forecast for
tomorrow. Spent all morning grading and levelling and the
afternoon cutting back the hedgerow around the perimeter, and
this evening I had to go and hand rake the whole thing....plenty
of people there with rakes but couldn't use them!
Guess it is a freebe as I cannot really bill the church?
Sam
