: : : : : Commercial carburetor cleaner is quite expensive. : : : Does anyone have a recipe for a mix it yourself : : : cleaner using ingredients that are readily : : : available ? : : : To be specific I wish a solution that I can soak : : : clogged carburetors or other parts and it will : : : remove dried gas and essentially everything. : : : Thanks : : : Ed Wilson - ewilson@trytel.com : : Ed - : : I've had excellent luck with Strip-Eze (methylene chloride paint remover). Dissolves, gum, varnish, paint - EVERYTHING - and does not harm metal parts. Be sure to remove any plastic parts (it'll dissolve them too) before you dip, and have plenty of ventilation. : : Bob : Damn plenty of ventilation! Stuff about killed me once. I just had to clean a carb from a Tecumseh snowblower engine that had a clogged internal port. Soaked the darn thing for a week with no luck. Finally took it to a small engine repair and they dipped it is something that cleaned it up in 5 minutes. The guy said that Tecumseh carbs have this problem a lot. If I were you I wouldn't mess with the receipe.....I'd find a local Tecumseh dealer and let them do the work for $5.00. I'll be better for your health too! Good luck......
