If you only go to one tractor show this summer put June 28th, 29th and 30th on your calendar. These are the dates of the Kalamazoo Valley Antique Engine and Machinery Clubs Annual Show and Exhibition. It promises to be one of the most outstanding shows that you will ever see of this type. The place that this show is held at is called Gilmore Car Museum. It is considered one of the top five car museums in the United States. It is located about twenty miles northeast of Kalamazoo in the little town called Hickory Corners. It's setting is out in the country on ninety acres of manicured lawns in a country club setting with the beautiful restored barns, white fences in rolling hills that surround the grounds. There is a fifty's diner and a restored gas station and the restored barns store several hundred of the Concours-de-elegance of automobiles, likes you have never seen before. John Deere is the featured equipment this year but all makes are welcome. There are several hundred tractors expected along with many pieces of equipment from all over the midwest and many vendors. I know people who are working behind the scenes and they are putting their heart and soul into this show. I promise that you will not be disappointed. Also if you have not been to Michigan take time to make this a destination and drive up along the shore of Lake Michigan and visit the quaint little towns. Towns like Manistee, Frankfort, Charlevoix, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Mackinac Island to name just a few. There's a lot of boating, golf, fishing, festivals, and art shows going on not to mention all the good local food. If you have any questions you can email me at athomas03@aol.com
