Greetings. I am new to this forum and the new proud owner of a Ford 9n tractor. I was hesitant at first to purchase something so old but I was assured that these tractors are simple enough to work on and parts are available. Besides, with the wealth of knowledge that I have seen on this forum, I knew there would always be someone available to help. Well, now that time has come. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. My 9n is leaking transmission fluid from two places - the PTO and where the right arm attaches to the tractor (not sure what it is called, but I attached a photo). I have taken the PTO shaft out, removed one snap ring but cannot seem to get it apart to replace the seal. I read something about putting it in a vice grip and tapping the but end of the shaft and that it would just come out. The problem is that there are tiny metal ridges preventing the shaft from sliding out (see the photo). So my first question is how do I get this thing apart so that I can replace the seal? My second question is, to fix the other leak which is coming from where the arm attaches to the tractor (see photo), I removed the one bolt (the smaller one) but the big one just seems to turn and turn without coming out. Does it just pull out? How do I get this part off so that I can replace the gasket (assuming that there is a gasket here)? Alternatively, would you recommend a JB weld around it instead?
