Myself i do not get all hipped up unless they are talking a heavy wet snow . since we live in modern times we are NOT going to be snowed in for weeks as long as the power does not go out and even then we could get by . With the equipment of today it does not take long to clear the roads or the drive . So ok ya stay inside for a day or so big deal. If i absolutely have to go then we will use the truck , yea it can get stuck but i know what it will do and what it won't do just because it is a 4X4 there is only so much it will go thru . I spent to many years on the road in a big truck and untill i stopped driving i ran in every major snow storm that we have seen east of the rocky's and drove thru all of them . Took a load of CFC salt to the mill in Bloomington Ill. during the blizzard of 78 and met that storm head on at South Bend In. on the toll road and got that load or should i say two loads thru as i knew it was coming and when i loaded i did not load the usual 46000 lbs i loaded two loads that totaled 92000 lbs . That trip took four hours longer to run then normal . BUT they got there salt and were able to mix feed . Once the load was off now that was a different story as it took me and hour to get from the mill to the truck stop just down the road so i could get some sleep and a good breakfast in the morning to get back home . Light powdery snow is not bad , heavy wet snow is another ball game , ya can't blow it and for us old coots ya can't shovel it and it takes something BIG to move it .
