We used to have a hay fork just like that one. Dad drove the load of hay up into the barn then he would unhook 1 horse walk it along side the wagon back outside then hook it to the rope. My job was to set the fork. That fork wasn't very heavy so it had to be pulled back down from the peak to the wagon. He would go back in the mow to mow the hay away and mom drove the horse to pull it up to the track and away to where I dumped it by pulling the rope. Later he got a grapple fork and when that thing tripped to come back down to the wagon, it dropped like a rock and you better not be under it.
