No, our system didnt fail. The problem is that there are a few cases in which people need government healthcare (those who really are disabled, those born with retardation and mental illness)and I have no problem with my tax dollars being spent on them. I actually believe it is the duty of their family/church to care for them, but so many families are dead beats and/or are not part of a church so its left up the government to provide money for care which is fine. So the real problem is those who are able to work but are to doggone lazy. That's not a healthcare issue. The only failure of the system is to allow people to take advantage of tax payers. I see it in my workplace. Folks that work a few hours a week and dont want anymore hours because they would rather stay at home and get their check. One person works around 20 hours per week and their husband works 10 hours per week at a local eatery. They do not want anymore hours. The husband needs time to play X-box.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The government does not know how to spend my money better than I do. Their duty is national safety and road building. The remainder should be the responsiblity of the individual.
