You know Larry people like Ben really have nothing to think about other than memories. In nursing homes everything is done for them so they don't have to worry about day to day living. Anything that would help them kind of relive their memories would be great. Whenever I visit a nursing home I see people just sitting in wheelchairs gazing into nowhere, it's sad. They could be looking at a computer screen and watching videos of interest to them. I'm sure there are many volenteers who could teach and help them to watch videos on places like Youtube. It sound like the only reason Ben is there is because his wife is in poor health and he wants to be near her. That is a real loving relationship. It also sounds like Ben could, if willing, use a computer. I think once he could see what he could do on a computer he would love it. As you know, it's not difficult to use a computer and if a 5 year old child can operate a computer I'm sure someone 90 years old could too. And that is someone who knows nothing about a computer. I have friends who are almost 90 and they can use a computer and they really enjoy it. In my opinion, computers are just as important in a nursing home as they are in schools. Every nursing home should have them for patients to use. It's great that you take the time to visit Ben while visiting your aunt. I'm sure he really looks forward to your visits.
