: : : : : Yes putting oil in your gas is good for it. Mix it in a ratio of 1 part oil to 16 parts gas or 16:1 just the way you mixed it for your old chain saw. Fire it up and watch it go. Oh my the way this is only good if you have a mosquito problem in the area. If you are worried go to the autoparts store and by the "REAL" lead additive.

: : Very few 2 cycle engines even call for 16 to 1 gas oil mix any more. I use Lawn Boy "Ashless" and mix 64 to 1 (hey it lubes mains, crank and piston on those little engines at incredible RPM's)there is no smoke and no plug fouling. I sometimes do the same with Marvel Mystery Oil. :-)

: You are correct about the lesser of the ratios, 32:1 and 64:1 that is why I clearly stated "for your old chain saws". See I am getting the hang of this board and I know someone will jump on the slightist discrepencies. Nothing I run over the road or through the woods. is newer than an '73.

How do you afford all that late model stuff, all my stuff is old.
I once bought some really bad generic two cycle oil for my chain saw that while running smelled worse than when my llama belches in my face (he doesn't even say excuse me). ;-)

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
