I think that the suppliers just cant keep up with the demand. A buddy of mine is a federal firearms license holder. He said the ammo situation is bad too, the dealers cant keep anything in stock due to guys buying all of it up just like you said. That school shooting a couple of days ago might be the end of your right to buy a handgun in the US. The politicians in DC react on emotion and fear.
