I'm exhausted and suffering from sensory overload,but I'm back. We went to the Renfro Valley Barn Dance in Kentucky last night. What a show! If you think the Grand Old Opry has gotten too modern,you'd LOVE the Barn Dance. I was so keyed up I couldn't even get to sleep til about 4 hours after the show. SUPER,that's all I can say. There's a reason it's been a weekly event for 73 years!
We left Thursday morning,went to Lexington Ky the first night. The color wasn't great down through Ky,a little past peak,but as you can see Cumberland Falls,the Niagra of the south still was impressive. The first picture was north of Somerset Ky,the color really looks better in the pictures than it did in person.
Knoxville/Severeville area was a waste of gas getting there as usual. The color had hardly changed in the lower elevations and it was too hazy to see the mountain tops.
When we got north of Jamestown Tennessee in the Valley of the Three Forks near Pall Mall,the color just exploded. It was like Heaven opened up and fell to earth! I always thought that area was the most beautiful place on the face of the Earth in the summer,but in the fall,sensory overload again,that's all I can say.I took WAY too many pictures of the Sgt Alvin C York Memorial Grist Mill and the dam. The devil of it is,I found a farm for sale by owner two miles from the Forbus Store,RIGHT WHERE I want to be! It's the brick house in the picture,along with a picture or two of the land,the mountains up behind and the Forbus Store down in the valley. Of course,the farm behind the store in the picture isn't the one for sale.
