Your making this harder than it needs to be. Just drill and tap a 3/4 x 16 hole in the JD 3010 cover. I usually do it in the end of the cover about half way between the bolt and the edge. Then after you have your 3/4 fine thread in the cover just take a round file or die grinder and put a small chamfer around the hole. This chamfer is to hold the o-ring used with an o-ring style hydraulic fitting. Then get a 3/4 x 16 o-ring fitting. The other end can be JIC, Pipe, or o-ring. Whatever you need to hook to your return hose. Then if you ever need to remove the hoe just get a o-ring style plug and the cover is good to go.
I bet I have done this on over a hundred tractors over the years. It is easy and much cheaper than a new ported cover. Plus you do not have to worry about getting the correct cover.
Remember that the covers are about a 1/4 thick cast steel. So they are strong but will drill easy and tap easy. If you have a drill press it make it real easy. I just shim the one side of the cover so the top is level. The more square the better but if you are off just a little it will not hurt anything. The o-ring fitting will seal at slite misalignments. The cover only has at the max 175-200 PSI on it. So the hole will not weaken it any.
