No problem with that, I believe it makes us all think and put into words our feelings. I know the guys with the high tech, airconditioned, comfy seated equipment were kidding too, but if we believe Freud, there's truth in our humor. More and more the farmer is separating himself from the land with larger and more complicated machinery. The American Farm Bereau WEB site lists at least seven pieces of equipment, some in excess of a $100K to prepare and harvest an acre of corn in less than 2-4 hours; this for a product that is trading around $2.40 a bushel? Something isn't right. With expenses like that, no wonder folks farm thousands of acres at a time. But I don't think that is the way it was meant to be. I know the old way is hard work, but it employed more people. Furthermore, I believe we are being conditioned to dislike our work. We seem to gear everything toward the weekend, vacation, and retirement. Heck! I love what I do and I plan on doing it until the day I die. I do not wish to be distanced by large, unnecessary, expensive machines; I want to be down in it. I believe that is where the creator meant for us to be.
