: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CUB AND A CUB LO-BOY IS THE HIEGHT OF THE TRACTOR IT IS ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING THE REAR FINAL DRIVE HOUSINGS 90* AND IT USES A FRONT SPINDLE LEIGHTH OF ABOUT 4 INCHES THE WHOLE TRACTOR HAS APPROX. 12" GOUND CLEARANCE VERSUS ABOUT 20" ON THE CUB I HAVE A 48 CUB AND HAD A 57 CUB THE 57 HAD THE CHROME EMBLEMS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE COVER BUT THE 48 DOESNT KNOW WHAT CHROME IS? THERE FUN AND PLENTIFULL FOR PARTS ENJOY : RON I agree the serial number I believe indicates the cub is a 47, you can check the serial number chart on YT. but the chrome on the hood indicates the cub is later around 1956. I don't have my books so I am quoting of the top of my head. Another thing the exhaust on or before 1956 will come straight out of the hood and my 56 exhaust is down on the bottom ant exhaust at the final drive.
