Dale, From your description and the serial number it appears as though yours is a Cub Lo-Boy. An IH parts book I have shows the type hood you describe on the first style Cub Lo-boy and indicates tis style had serial numbers 501 through 10,000. One easy check for the LO-Boy is to check the ground clearance under the front axle. The standard Cub will have about 20 inches, the Lo-Boy about 12 inches ( I think ). I don't think there is too much difference in the value between the standard and the Lo-Boy. If anything I think the value of the Lo-Boy might be a little lower due to the fact that it is harder to find implements for them than it is for the standard Cub. I don't have a year of manufacture by serial number for the Lo-Boy . But I can tell you that it is newer than 1948, maybe more like 1958 . Maybe another reader can offer that . John
