Thats how I like it, off the beaten path. You probably enjoy that part more than anything else, I like the fact the local municipalities can't really see or poke around etc.
In my area, it was all rural farming, a lot of that has changed, not all, and thats because people stood up to the developers and town. The good thing is that I have land here, combined together, 98 acres or so, almost 20 is water, have 2 small creeks run on each side of my favorite field, (I'll call it a bottom field of 7 acres, 3 sides are sloped to it) and I am close to business's just the same, so often times its not time consuming to fetch things, though our hardware store is now closing, not even 1 year after TSC built across the road, they had the best bolt bins, meaning TSC does not have 7/16-14 x 1" bolts in grade 8, they do, having a larger selection. Its handy, but the road I'm on is one of the busiest 2 lane state roads around.
I have a few things in my yard, 3 pick up trucks sitting, and 2 old D7 cats, but you really can't see them, no one to really complain, never know if they would bust chops, or not, I do my best to be polite to the people whom work for the town, supervisor is co-owner with his brother of the largest dairy in this town and maybe the county, I know him well, rules are rules but they don't seem to bother with us anymore, there was a time when we were literally at war with them too, glad those days are over, thats another story LOL !!!
