Runs pretty decent with almost 300k on it, but it smokes blue pretty bad at idle after it gets warm. It will almost engulf the truck sitting at a light, but doesen't seem to bad going down the road.
I'm kinda thinking turbo seals. I bought a supposed good turbo from the previous owner for a few bucks, but was wondering if I'm on the right track before I go to the trouble of swapping.
Anything else I should look at? With the mileage on this and what I gave for it, it'll just get run til it dies. Not looking to spend a whole lot on it.
Thanks, Jeff.
Blue smoke points to oil in the exhaust post turbo,a bad inj usually causes white or grey smoke.
Is it using oil?
Wont hurt to check the turbo, could be bad exhaust seal, leaking intake seal or high oil pullover trough the CDR (high blowby)causes black smoke as the oil is burned(rebuild kit is only $80 or so.
300 k is getting there,but..
My wife drives a 6.5 with 410 k on it, i have a 6.2 with over 700 k on it,..both run strong.
just saying.
PS,..the 97's have the worst engines of all
