I have had 2 18ft Winners still have a 90 I brought New... Both were top of the line and the best built boat I have ever seen. That's what put them out of business they were priced right up their with Ranger boats. If they would have ever caught on and folks seen the quality they would have gave ranger a fit...

The Winner models thru the 80's had handling issues above 60MPH... I figgerd out how to load equipment and run the gas out of the twin tanks so it never bother me on my 84 winner. The early ones were lite and would FLY my 84 had no problem run'n 70 MPH. I hit a log in the Roanoke river and busted the kill (spell check) Winners uses all fiberglass stringers in the hull (nuttin to rot) so I rolled it over repaired it from the outside and a bud of mine brought it and still has it...

My 90 has a different design hull one 35 gal gas tank and about 400 lbs heaver that the 84,,, it handles great no transom jack needed but runs 7/8 MPH slower with the same engine,,, Handles great tho.... When Winner folded Sprint brought the molds I don't know if sprint is still around... Be'n around boats most of my life and be'n a mechanic I never seen a better built boat... They used the best of the best,,, that even had a wiring harness that fit plug and play,,, they used Steward & Warner gauges all the best... They were finished on the underside also you could run you hand any were and not get stung with fiberglass...

I would check the lower unit after a few runs for water,,, Merc's are great engines. I have never had lower unit issues with mine but have built it 2 times (owner self inflected issues),,, That's the price you pay for turn'n it hard... I run Boise power reeds in mine just in case one breaks it does not damage the engine and improves performance but a beach to get set up the first time... Great boat enjoy it...
