They paid a guy $25 for an old Fire alarm box claimed they were going to sell it for $50, I had one just like it I paid $75 for mine 10 years ago. The town I got it from had offers of $200 for every one they had but the town decided to sell them to the local people. I have since seen the same era box going for close to $2000 without listing the city they came from. I wondered if the one they bought didn't have the internals if it did it was worth over $25 just in scrap value. I'm thinking the internals were missing due to the way he hefted it around, the box is cast iron with another cast iron box inside filled with brass gears that automate the telegraph portion to tell the firehall which box the alarm is sent from. They are 75 to 80 pounds
