I don't know what period of history it was that unions were made up of martyrs and heroes because in the 20s, 30s and 40s they were busting heads and preventing people from getting jobs unless they gave up their right to work and support their families as they saw fit, in my lifetime, from the 50s onward, the unions have been nothing more than a block vote for corrupt politicians, sucking the life blood out of companies, communities and the economy in general. Think of the damage done to the country and American society over the years by the politicians who would not of otherwise been elected if not for the union vote. Aside from that, I have never understood why anyone in their right mind would willingly allow an organization to take part of their wages every week to support more fat cats and do nothings than they already support by payroll taxes.
