Menard's found a pile new tractors the manufacturer couldn't sell, that's got to tell you something right there. A retailer not previously in this line of merchandise buys them from the manufacturer at a distressed price.....WHY? If they were so darn tootin good why didn't the Argentinians who built the darn things snap them up? It is fun to have something unusual or different, I think that's some of the allure of the 2 cylinder John Deeres (or Harleys) but remember a tractor is a durable good, they should last quite a while but for them to be useful you'll need parts support or connections with folks that are real good at building and adapting parts. We can complain about the cost of parts from Mother Deere, or AGCO or CNH but I think you'll agree it's even more expensive to have a tractor you can't get parts for. On the other hand if you keep one of these off brand gems running for 5 years you'll have developed some interesting mechanical skills. One of the bright sides of the Chinese domination of lower end of about any market is they don't seem to understand the need for customer product support and they want to abuse you on parts cost (making Mother Deere look like Walmart) doesn't take to long for folks to want to go to something of quality with support. Unless the Chinese work on customer/product support I think (hope) they'll peak early and someone else will take over their markets.

You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o
