Are you tired the carb leaking gas into the engine and you've tried everything to fix the carb? Are you forgetful and can't remember to turn the gas off? Bought the 12v solenoid on ebay and two 1/4 inch brass MPT to 1/4 inch barb fittings at Lowes. Got about $20 total invested. This is my second mower with a briggs engine I've does this to. The down side is I couldn't find the solenoid locally, this one came from China on a slow boat that took 3 weeks. The one I did find they wanted $175 for and it had to be ordered.
I have an extra spare solenoid just waiting for another mower to act up.
