I'm retro-fitting a hydraulic power lift to a 1938 Farmall F14 I'm rebuilding. My I&T manual gives a nice cutaway view, but that's it. From looking at it, it appears to be pretty straight forward, but I do have a couple of questions. If anyone knows the answer or can point me to a source of information, I'd appreciate it. 1. When I took it apart, it appeared to use gear oil rather than hydraulic oil. Is this correct? If so, what weight? 2. From what I can tell from the book and looking at the unit, it appears to be self contained, with the "rockshaft" or vane unit acting as the reservoir and a pressure relief on the pump unit. Again, is this correct? What is the approximate capacity of the unit? Many thanks for any help, opinions or sources. Paul.
