Just for everyone who is wondering ..Canadians can own handguns and long guns. Handguns have been registered since 1935 in Canada. The long gun registry that was started about 10 years ago has been abandoned by Parliament because of the snafu of trying to register millions of hunting guns. We have "Restricted" and "Prohibited" Handguns are restricted and must be kept on the owner's premises properly stored,a permit is required to carry the gun to and from a gun range. Prohibited guns are fully automatic and handguns with smaller than .32 cal. My guns are all hunting guns, the guns must be stored in a cabinet or with trigger locks.Ammunition must be stored securely in another location of the premises.
In this case it was a total overreaction to a picture draw by a little girl..however she should not see that gun because it should be locked up as required and there was a fear that it was available to her..not defending what happened because it was ridiculous as far as I am concerned.....but if her old man is a drug dealing jerk..then maybe the call was right, but in this case it doesn't sound like he did anything illegal.I know Americans view our gun laws as being unfair but we didn't have a school shooting today either
