SCRAPPING VS. PARTING OUT

Wow! What a subject. I am amazed at the amount of conversation this has generated on this board. To my way of thinking "scrapping" is getting rid of or recycling something that is useless, even for "parting out". "Parting out" to me means salvaging the still useful components and reusing them in a similar machine. Now, what do you think of someone who would part out a perfectly good machine, because they can realize more money by selling each piece. I guess you could say it's a free country and anyone can do what they want with their property, but you people who buy this stuff, possibly only because you are trying to make something "original" are just as much a cause of the "problem" as the sellers. I've seen someone search for a new grill or hood panel because his is rusted or dented; I myself prefer to see a machine that works keep working, not destroyed to scavange "original" parts.
