Mike, its really none of my business per say, but you are posting and asking for advice. By code, you are allowed to work up to the main on the house side. From the main to the meter is a licensed electrician, by code.

My concern is that 100 amps will smoke you in a heart beat. On the other side of that meter to the pole (transformer) is considerably more than that. I understand that you are trying to make repairs, but some of the questions that I saw you ask this time and the last go round, you really should get an electrician involved.

I had a buddy that sided houses for a living. He purchased a house that he and his fiance' were going to live in after their upcoming marriage. The house needed some work and he had friends from different trades helping him out, as friends do for friends. Thing is, he was the siding guy, so that he was doing on his own when he had time. Aluminum scafolding and a screw gun one dewy morning, and he bent over then stood up and touched his head to the service from the pole to the meter. The little neighbor girl from next door let their dog out and happened to go out with the dog and saw him lying dead on the ground with his boots smoldering. He had purchased a golden retriever from some neighbor a mile or so away, that after his death got the dog back, as a young adult. Those people let it out in a fenced yard and it escaped a few times, finding its way back to my dead buddy's house, his then dead owner, and thats where the new owners would find it, sitting outside waiting for its master, my buddy to come let it in, but he never did. It was sad to witness, all of it. From the main to the pole is considerably more than 100 or 200 amp. I could be wrong, but I think the circuit breaker on the transformer is like 7.5K.

Its up to you but be carful and good luck.

Mark
