Hello everyone. Hope you all enjoying a wonderful christmas day. It is sunny and in the mid 40's today. Wrigley and I are relaxing watching John Wayne on amc this afternoon so I thought I would post a few pics.
Daylight over the prarie of Illinois. With these short days seems we start our days before the sunrise and if we arent carefull our work goes beyond sundown.
This is my commute to work. Out the door and across the barnlot in about 2 minutes.
Feeding cows at sunrise on christmas morning. I dont usually make it to the higgs farm before sunrise but I did chores early this morning so I could make it to breakfast with the rest of my family so the cows ate right at sunrise. They are ALWAY happy to see me and wrigley.
If you are ever wandering around rural Peoria county and see this sign you have found the winter home to our cow herd and the oldest farm in Trivoli township.
And if you ever see this on the back roads in Trivoli township honk and wave when you pass cause it me and wrigley feeding cows.
This is our new feedlot. Calves seem to be enjoying their new home.
This is how we bed down the sheds. Just pull the bale processor up next to the shed and let'er rip! Takes just a few seconds and does better than a man could do with a pitch fork.
We also make piles outside. They will eat some of the stalks but they spend alot of time laying around out there on sunny days.
This is where wrigley rides in the tractor alot of the time. He likes to keep an eye on things!
Who says farming aint tough? Wrigley looks all wore out wating for me in tractor and its only 8:30 in the morning.
This is wrigley's christmas haul! He's a very happy dog. Lots of toys and we have been playing on the living room floor ever since we got back from christmas breakfast. He finally got wore out and is napping behind my chair. You know I got about an hour before I start evening chores, a nap sounds pretty darn good! Merry christmas everybody!! bill
