With all the surveillance around these days, you'd think it would cross his mind. He didn't try the gate, think about what to do, etc.- just chucked it over. It would be a pretty easy matter to lift it over the top, reach through the gate with other hand, to lower it to the ground, then give it a push to get it far enough away from the gate to prevent someone reaching through. Also a pretty easy matter to see the damage to the box and contents if it landed on concrete.
