Jim, my warmest condolences for your loss. I know how you feel. My wife died suddenly in August of last year. Had been married to her for 48 years.

I was alone for about 2 months and realized that I was going down hill very fast. I really had no point in life and after thinking about it for awhile, I decided to do something about it.

After 48 years of marriage, and my age, courting was something new and I felt very awkward about the very thought initially.

I had seen advertisements on TV from eHarmony.com dating service. I decided to give it a try. The way it works is they ask you a lot of questions establishing what they call your profile. The neat thing is that you have her answer to about 100 questions you want to ask BEFORE you ever contact her. Then communications are through them and you don't go "face to face" till you're ready. It compresses years of dating experience into one Q/A session.....fabulous!!!

Others wanting to establish a relationship also, fill out the same form. I requested certain things in my profile and they (eHarmony) inserted those things into their computer search engine, as they did for those out there "looking for me".

In the first 10 days I had 65 "hits". Not going into the particulars as to what I was looking for, but after 2 months of searching, I got this "howdy" email from a gal that had quit looking "for me".
She was no longer a subscriber, but eHarmony sent her an email that said that they had a guy she might like if she would send them $10 to pay for the input.

Well I'm now referred to as her "$10 man". It took us a couple of months to get used to each other considering age and past life differences. We took it slow and carefully. The BIG element in this evolving relationship is that WE BOTH DID NOT WANT TO LIVE ALONE AND WANTED THIS RELATIONSHIP TO WORK. Well sir, with both sides pulling in the same direction it couldn't help but work.

We celebrated our 1st anniversary last month and I love her to death as she does me. I am so happy I can't express it. The icing on the cake is that the families on both sides were elated at our finding each other, for obvious reasons, and they have not only accepted us into their families, but our families as well.

Give yourself time and in time if you feel alone and want to share the rest of your life with someone, don't hesitate to do something about it. Know what you want and go after it. You don't have to "settle for something".

Most Sincerely,

Mark

Today's Featured Article - The Engine Rebuild Kit - by Curtis Von Fange. I always liked engine rebuild kits. They have all the replacement parts for overhauling an engine without going to the store to get gaskets, special measuring tools, or miscellaneous parts. They come neatly packaged, clean and tidy. But it's important not to let that packaging lull you into a false sense of security. The appearance of matching sleeves, pistons, rings, and bearings can cause frustration and agony if not properly measured and installed in a workshop environment. Following c ... [Read Article]
