I'm trying to buy a used farm tractor before Jan 1st (gotta write something off haha) and I am having no luck finding anything good. I guess I'm pretty picky...

I'm trying to find a 2wd 120-150hp Ford or New Holland tractor, from the 1990's or 2000's. Maybe something mid-80's if it's low hours and clean. (good luck with that!)

I've checked on these classifieds, with no luck. I've checked tractor house, and fast line. I'm running out of ideas of where to look. It seems every tractor I look at has 6000+ hours on it, and they still want over $50,000 for it. Call me crazy, but I consider 6000+ to not be a "used" tractor. I consider it a "used up" tractor. I know there are lots out there that will go to 10,000 hours, but, when you get up near $60,000 for a tractor with that many hours, it's just $15,000 more for something brand new off the lot.

I guess there aren't a lot of 2wd tractors out there. I really don't like the 4wd ones. They have their strong points, but, it's more than I need, and I priced out front tires in popular sizes and it looks like I'd have to remortgage the farm to replace worn ones. call me crazy, I just don't see the benefit. If it's wet enough to need 4wd, chances are, it's too wet to be out in the field in the first place. I'm rambling... regardless...

Does anyone have a hot spot to check for used tractors? Thanks

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
