That's exactly why I posted this JD. Lou in Wis shows a sig for nearly $1300. A dealer in my town- an authorized Sig dealer/ repair shop, has these on the shelf for $675. Some Sigs failed the Mass 'lemmon law' like cars, they need to pass safety AND reliability tests, and many sig models didn't cut it. Lot of money to be just as dependable as an Iver Johnson don't ya think?
I stop in shops on my juants out west, had to ask what was up with the prices, antique or new production. I asked one shop owner in New Mexico. He said 'everyone out here reckons he is a collector of rare pieces'. So I ask if I could supply him with 'western and historic pieces' from here. He said I really should get an FFL first, but yeah, that would work out well. Now, we see the black shirt feds have a microscope on all gun shops down there, and this- and the other TV shows, have me smiling....
I happened to have talked to a friend after our posts last night, he is the fellow that bought most of my cousin's civil war stuff..... his home is in bad shape after last week's storm, he needs 1,000's in cash, now, so he is re-selling my cousin's collection plus part of his own, and at the point of crying he will lose so much on it all. He was collecting since the early 60's, when that war was trendy, so this is tramatic for him. But in general, like you, my guns keep up with CD and IRA rates, but that is disappointing at best ain't it?
