: I havent owned my cub very long but have enjoyed : it so far. I have a few questions about fluids, such as on the back where the PTO is there is a 90 : elbow with a filler plug. What kind of fluid goes in here? Is it gear oil or what? Theres no fluid visible when the plug is removed. Any help would be apprieciated. One last question, there is another fill plug just behind the gear shift that when removed, I can see transmission gears. where do the gears get there lube from? Where do I put the lube for these gears? Just trying to keep up : all the maintenance that might need to be done! : Please respond!!! : I have a caldwell belly mower on this cub and the price seem to be fair at 1500.00 : Thanks, : Jerry Goodson Jerry, There are three pipe plugs on the Cub transmission/ differential unit . The one on the very top just behind the shifting lever is the fill hole plug. On the very bottom of the unit there is another plug used to drain the unit, and finally on the left side ( left side sitting in the seat) about half way down the side of the transmission is the liquid level plug. This is a smaller plug than the others and is used to check the correct level by removing the plug and slowly filling the unit with fluid until it starts to run out the level plug. I have never seen a Cub with a 90 degree elbow as you describe on the back of the pto. There is a grease fitting on the pto shaft bearing . The transmission and differential share lue oil. Use 90w gear oil. John Healey
