Live pto avoids the aggravation and dangers of a transmission driven pto. Usually what happens is a tractor dedicated to stationary and unattended pto operation. Is over heating or low oil pressure. Rarely are Murphy switches installed until the unit is ruined. Due to airflow the same tractor may operate within temp specs all day in the field. Yet run the same tractor on a stationary pto application. It may pull the same hot air from the rad and around the engine/exhaust. Right back around and into the rad again. An engine rebuild is only as good as the shop, men and materials involved. The engine may vary from better than "new" to less than "new". Usually a dedicated pto application tractor or even a daily used feedlot tractor. Are in good mechanical shape for the hours operated.
