Its been almost one year since I decided to play around with some farming. It has been an interesting road. I really did not no a dang thing about it but you learn fast when you jump in with both feet.
I probably picked the worse year to do it. The weather was not the best up here for me. It started with a very wet spring, I could not get on the field until mid june, and when I did get on the field I was getting stuck in a few places.
The tractor I had is a massey 1105. the motor was burning oil like crazy when I was doing the plowing last fall so I rebuilt the motor last winter and fixed a few other things. I thought everthing was ready to go this spring so I disced about 20 acres then the back end went out of it. I finished doing the discing and the seeding done with some old clunkers.
So anyways Im just finishing up my harvest, I had planted oats and was able to make some green feed out of them. Im not sure if I will be able to sell them because there is alot of hay in my area this year, but we will see how that goes.
I have learned lots of new stuff and I think I will be more prepared for next season. I will try it again and see what happens.
