Never thought I'd say "glad it's monday and I'm back at work" .....
Night shift Thursday night, couple hours sleep friday morning and then drag some tirekickers around to look at the sale horses, while out, found one of the babies had a bad cut on the leg. Got rid of the people, got all the stuff together and go doctor the horse... Get doneabout dark and home to relax...... 20 minutes later, phone rings and wife's friend is screaming and crying that her horse is sick.... Zoom over the 15miles to her house and found a plugged up, colicy horse... A nieghbor had set a round bale of straw right next to the fence and the fool horse gorged himself on it along with a bunch of grass clippings and junk that the folks mowing/cleaning on the other side dumped in. Wife doctored him and did all she could but it wasn't enough. Back to the house for the trailer and haul him 2 hours to the clinic where he had surgery and is recovering...
Back home, couple hours sleep, hit the proverbial road at 0600.Day of horsey events, and (stealing Old Tanker's phrase) dealing with Drewling, inbred morons and about 8 hours of driving. Back home for a couple hours sleep and off on the 4 hour drive to wife's grandmother's place for her birthday.. Very nice (but looooooong) day with family and a mother inlaw that neither of us can stand (wife was raised from 3 months old by her grandparents, mother just started coming around to make sure she's on hand to inherit when the old woman kicks off)..... Walked around town taking pics, eating, enjoying some real good beer and head back home slowly...... Had plenty of time to kill cause was dropping wife and her daughter at the airport for their vacation. Airport is an hour and a half from home and 3 hours from her grandmother's kinda on the way.......
Rainstorm, wind, hale, traffic jams turned 5 hours into 12. Got home at 0300. Gotta take care of animals and be at work at 0700. Set alarm and lay down for a couple hours sleep. Storms we had earlier got to home while I was sleeping, power went off, battery backup on alarm didn't work, I woke up at 0730........ Called work, flew thru chores and made it in at 0830.
Sure glad it's a federal holiday and I'm the only one in the building.....
Bright side is, I figured out that I can do the morning chores that I usually give myself an hour or so to do in 15-20 minutes :roll:
Done now.... But typing this kept me awake a little longer....
