Since it is an F250 the transmission is probably a E4OD and the place where I would look is the Manual Lever Position Sensor. When you stopped you shifted to park then when you wanted to go again you shifted back into drive the MLPS sends a signal to the ECM (computer) telling it what gear you have selected. The ECM then sends the appropriate signal to the solenoid body in the transmission. See if the MLPS is all grunged up. It is the electrical switch mounted at the lever on the driver side of the transmission just about the pan rail.
