Sorry for being so slow,You have posted a interesting question. Wish I could give you a answer that was simple .This will be a mixed answer. Our experience with the use of Clethidine was mixed depending on the grass you are attempt in to control. Some of the grasses germinate in cool weather others in hot. Application after every cutting would be needed (expensive) So bare in mind the species you are wanting to control will determine when you spray. Really eliminates sandbur. Will get Marshal Rye if used early. Crabgrass and hot weather grasses if spray in hot weather. Not successful on Red River Crabgrass. Took out Johnson Grass Time of application his very important. Does not effect Alfalfa. The field we used it on had been flooded in 86 so is heavily infested with ever weed that exists. I realize my answer is what you wanted to hear. We are going to plow the field under and go with RR alfalfa. We need top quality alfalfa for our Dairy herd. Send me a e-mail it is open gitrib
