I feel your anguish on this subject. Recently went to sears looking for bench vises. The Craftsman line; even the Craftsman Professional line of vises; all made in China. I came home did some internet searching, & found a couple of companies making them here. 1) Yost, out of Michigan, & Milton, out of Tennesee, & Sears could get both. I paid $470 for a Yost Model 880DI 8 inch reversible jaw vise. Just got it last Saturday. I love it already; but thats the medium duty model. Yost has some that list at about $2,000. The same for Milton. Is that price really necessary???
Need a new air compressor? I was looking at Eaton Compressor a couple of months ago. I really liked what I heard & saw at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY. I kept hearing Made in the USA from the salesman! Do a search for "Eaton Compressor on the internet, & you find a story about someone who sent a pump back for replacement, & they told him they came out of China. The guy posts a message on Hot Rodder magazine? or one of the others. Tells the story, & the owners calls the magazine, & threatens to sue them for not taking down the post, & for not providing the e-mail information of the poster so they can send their lawyers after him. The compressors say made in China on them; I wonder how long before they will come after me for writing this post!!!
