Obviously, the flooding is terrible.
So are the droughts we experience out in West Texas and the High Plains.
It is like watching a slow moving train wreck to see the crops (and your paycheck) wither and burn up from day after day of no rain or moisture.
I guarantee you - it doesn't take much of that to start a guy daydreaming about what it would be like if you just had a way to make use of some of the waste water... I guess its hard to understand unless you've been through it...
From a rough mathematical standpoint - we can irrigate roughly a 125 acre circle of corn with an 8" pipe of water (1000/gal per min). That is running about 4 months out of the year.
A 40 foot diameter pipe would roughly provide 500,000 acres worth of water, but running year round with suitable storage at the top end(reservoir or something), presumably would provide enough water for 3 times that # of acres.
I wish there was a way to do it, Eric! If corn gets any higher, maybe it will become feasible.
