All the guys below are steering you as right as possible. Big ops are too big to let the calf suck on the mom for a day, or feed it the first couple milkings, so you got to buy c in a bag. My hunch- even tho the weather might be warm to you- were these guys in the back of a pick up? Or any open vehicle is the chance of old fashioned 'shipping fever'. 90 miles is a long ride if you are 48 hours old. Wind seems to suck the life out of these things- on the road, but not standing in a pasture huh? Wierd, but next time, like the guys below said, buy local. Find a farm closer to you that has the breed you want, leave your number- and pay a deposit in advance if he wants- to hold you a couple at a certain - 4 H season, and tell him you will be there a few days after they are born, so he has to give them the mom's first few milkings, take them home like you would a human kid.... this pair is having a bad start, keep them warm, a radio is good for babies too, they must be stressed like battle fatigue, and we wish you all the best.
