It needs to be right. When you're done the float has to be level from the plunger right on out to the tip of the float so that means any bend has to be right up against the hinge. Easy gauge is a 1/4" drill bit. Invert the carb body and set it on the table. Stick the bit under the end of the float and bend at the hinge to set the height. Get it at 1/4" then stick the bit up near the plunger. Go back and forth until you get it 1/4" and level. Some have trouble with this because they can't stand finese and nuance which is required to make it come out right.
