There have been complaints of some of the off-shore, generic replacement carburetors not being quite right. To check the float level, disassemble the carburetor, invert the top half, and check for 9/32" of clearance between the float and the machined surface of the carburetor, measured at the end of the float farthest from the needle and seat.
