I don't see how they could determine if an axle came from a mobil home or not. From what I saw, DOT requirements for various axles were set based on the load, not what the axle was under. I've never seen a mobil home axle marked as such. DOT and my state at least give different requirements for different load ranges, going down infinately tiny. I've got a utility trailer with a gross vehicle weight of 440 lbs. It's axle is quite fragile and certainly could not be used to hold up a tractor. Doing so would violate the weight limit of the axle and trailer, which are marked on the vin plate of the trailer. Violating this could result in a police action against me, especially if I broke the trailer on the road. The trailer is for pulling things behind a motorcycle btw. I really do not think DOT would allow a substandard axle to be used under mobil homes. The notion that mobil homes don't travel far or fast is absurd on the face of it. There is no national limitation of where mobil homes can be transported to, and they are regularly hauled on interstate highways at high rates of speed, safely and legally.

You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
