Solenoid leaking voltage

I'm finding about 1v of draw between the battery cable that runs to the solenoid and the battery positive terminal with the key turned off and tractor not running on my 560D. I've traced it to the solenoid. With only the battery wire connected to the solenoid the volt meter needle flickers when connected, but just a trickle of draw. When I re-attach the starter motor wire to the solenoid the draw goes up to 1v. There are no other wires connected, and the battery to solenoid wire is a brand new one. This is a new solenoid (I cracked the other one by over tightening), from the dealer. Am I right in my assumption that there should be zero draw? Any other test to do? Thanks in advance - Sam.
