12 volts is applied to one side of the light, other side of light grounds through armature post and generator. When the generator goes to charge, there is 12 volts output from the armature. 12 volts is on both sides of light so it goes out.
Since the light glows your light blue wire should be ok.
If this is a type a generator system, with engine running ground the F terminal on generator. If light goes out the regulator side of the regulator and/or wiring is bad.
If light still glows, jumper from armature to BAT output on regulator. If light goes out the cutout side of regulator is bad.
If light continues to glow, you have bypassed the regulator so suspect generator or wiring problem.
