It would depend on how bad the O-ring is. They seldom fail completely; usually get hard or a small chafe or flat spot on them. That would be just enough to leak down slowly, or let air enter the piston area from the rear end if the bad spot is above the static level of the HY-Tran in the rear frame. Remember he said the pedal never got as good as the other side. Worn brake pads allow greater piston travel putting the piston o-ring in "virgin territory", or allow them to roll. These O-rings are nearing 30 years old if original. Bleeding this brake may bring it back, but only for a little while.
